Ovoid Ewer in Solid Silver, Empire Period (1809–1818)

A superb ovoid ewer resting on a finely chased foot decorated with water leaves. The polished body is adorned with an elegant frieze of palmettes inspired by antiquity.
The handle, decorated with chased foliage, is formed by a finely sculpted swan's head, whose beak forms the spout and terminates in an applied female head, an emblematic motif of the Empire style, here executed with great finesse.

A piece with pure and balanced lines, perfectly illustrating the refinement of early 19th-century French silversmithing.
