Vase in emerald green glass, blown and tool-worked, with flattened body and flared "speaking" neck. Décor of falling ivy branches and the motto "Je meurs où je m'attache" ("I die where I cling") engraved in relief with acid and wheel cameo, with gold and red enamel highlights attached to the muffle. The vase is adorned on its base and neck with a Minerve hallmarked and Master goldsmith hallmarked silver mount. Goldsmith and glassmaker agree on the same motif, in this case ivy, and on the harmonization of shapes, resulting in a very elaborate ensemble.
Daum was fond of mottos, either to express a sentiment, or in connection with the plant used in the decoration, which in this case represents unalterable fidelity.
Created 1892. Signed under the base in pontil gold. Measures: 29x16x8cm.
