Offered by Anne Besnard
This Louis XV-style buffet is made of solid walnut. The lower section opens with two doors, while the recessed upper body also opens with two doors. The whole is generously moulded and shaped with flowing contours. The doors are constructed with large frames, and their panels feature double raised mouldings, one of which is enhanced with a small ogee profile. The upper and lower rails are carved with stylised vases and small floral motifs.
In excellent condition, this piece has retained its cornice and its original front feet; the two rear feet have undergone minor splicing repairs. The walnut, honey-coloured in tone, displays a beautiful blond patina.
Period: second half of the 18th century.
Its dimensions are moderate for a Louis XV two-part buffet: height 244 cm, depth 67 cm, and width 166 cm.
