Pair of Chinese cloisonné vases, mounted as lamps

A stunning pair of Chinese cloisonné vases, now mounted as table lamps

Period: 19th century
Height: 80 cm
Provenance: Dutch noble family

Each lamp is formed from a baluster shaped cloisonné vase with a turquoise ground, the metal body finely worked with slender wires that outline scrolling foliage, chrysanthemum and peony blossoms, and perching birds in multicoloured enamel. The enamels display the characteristic translucency and jewel like palette associated with late Qing cloisonné production.

The vases are set into finely cast gilt bronze mounts, the bases with pierced rocaille aprons and scrolling feet, and the shoulders fitted with conforming collars that transition elegantly to the lamp hardware

With their generous proportions and tailored shades, these lamps offer both ambient light and a decorative statement in every interior.
