18th and 19th centuries Furniture and Fine Art
We are honored to present this exceptional and rarely available work desk once owned by Monsieur Pierre Cardin, a distinguished piece from his private residence on Quai Anatole France, offered on the art market.
This elegant and refined flat desk stands out with its black lacquered wood and gilt bronze decorations. The apron features three drawers that harmoniously follow the curves of the façade. The entire desk is adorned with gilt bronze details: escutcheons, fluted bands accentuating the lines of the legs, and finely chiseled cage sabots depicting animal feet. The façade is further embellished with gilt brass inlays and gilt bronze drawer pulls, while the keyholes complete this masterful metalwork.
The top, framed by a gilt bronze gallery, is covered in black leather with a patina developed over time and through use, bearing witness to the work of its illustrious owner.
Beautiful French work, manufactured circa 1870-1880.
