Flat back in walnut, richly carved with mantling, scrolls and foliage. Flared armrests adorned with stylized shells. Curved apron belts. Cambered legs with sabots.
Beautiful original petit and grand point de Saint-Cyr upholstery featuring allegorical scenes animated with characters, or fables by La Fontaine in reserves inspired by the plates in René Charpentier's collection of ornamental drawings engraved by Jean-Nicolas Baillon.

Saint-Cyr stitch is the royal tapestry stitch par excellence. Petit point tapestry, taught by Madame de Maintenon at her Saint Louis education center in Saint Cyr, became a social phenomenon, invading boudoirs and salons. It can be found on Madame de Mailly's tapestry, which Louis XV lacerates with a knife, and later on the upholstery of Marie-Antoinette's armchairs at Compiègne. Executed at the co
