An important centerpiece in gilt and silvered bronze and cut crystal, depicting a putti supporting an oval bowl forming a jardiniere. The partially gilded and silvered putti is stamped PICARD on the reverse.

Henri Picard (1840-1890) Parisian bronze-worker
According to the National Archives, the bronze-worker Henri Picard, founder and gilder, established himself at 6 rue Jarente from 1831 to 1839 before moving to 10 rue de la Perle until 1864. He supplied decorative objects for Napoleon III's private apartments at the Louvre. He was known for the quality of his tableware and mantelpieces, particularly his combination of gilt and silvered bronze. An important pair of twelve-light candelabra by Picard is kept at the Louvre Museum.
