Pair of Athenian in gilded and patinated wood. Early 19th century.
Rare pair of Athenian figures in gilded wood with a bronze imitation patina. The base is provided by three tapered uprights adorned with heads of Zephyrs with butterfly wings at the top, and goat hooves at the base. They are linked by cross-pieces adorned with a rosette at the intersection. The uprights support a flat-topped simulated basin with a "cul de lampe" base decorated with gadroons and pinecones, and rest on a triangular base with concave sides. Three small olive runners support the whole.
