Son of the engraver Louis François Charon (1783-1839), this portrait painter was born in Paris on April 18, 1807.
He entered the École des Beaux-Arts on April 10, 1824 as a student of Lethière (1760-1832) and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1831 until 1848. He was rewarded with a third-class medal in 1839. He also participated in provincial Salons such as Lille and Douai from 1825 as well as Boulogne-sur-Mer and Lyon.
Charon-Lémérillon will try his luck at the Prix de Rome in 1830 with Méléagre taking up his arms at the request of his wife.

He died in Bouzareah, near Algiers in 1873 at the age of 66.
According to the death certificate of his aunt Marie Thérèse Charon, the artist attached to his surname the nickname that his paternal grandfather bore: l’émérillon.

The Versailles Museum preserves the portrait of Jules Hardouin Mansart of him.
