A dog sits at his feet, his head raised towards his master, scratching himself with his hind leg. It is most likely the Chinese sage Wei Peh-Yang, of the Han dynasty, according to a similar model from the Behrens collection by Henri Joly. Model illustrating the same subject in the former Carlo Monzino collection. Beautiful natural patina of the ivory. Nice infrequent topic. Height: 6cm. Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.
