Celadon porcelain perfume burner, China Ming Dynasty

Rare Chinese Celadon porcelain perfume burner representing a fantastic animal “Luduan”*, whose body acts as a container and the removable cap head.

Very beautiful translucent Celadon cracked glaze with a finely incised underglaze decoration.

The collar of the body encircled by a frieze setting of finely chiseled and mercury-gilded bronze beads.

Beautiful state of conservation, small chip on the horn.

Porcelain, China, Longquan kiln, Zhejiang Province, Ming Dynasty, 17th century.

The frame, Paris Regency period.

Piece imported and marketed in France by a Parisian haberdashery merchant in the first part of the 18th century.
