Offered by Galerie Sylvain Levy Alban
A gouache on vellum representing fruit ( pears, apples, cherries and a lemon) in a large curved blue and white Chinese porcelain bowl , standing on a stone pediment , a north Italian work of the second half of the 17th century , attributed to Octavianus Monfort ( active and documented in Turin from 1646 to 1696 ).
in an early 18th century Italian gilt wood frame.
Gouaches with similar subjects are in the collections of the Royal Palace in turin and at the basilica of Superga.
A later inscription in French on the stone pediment indicates the date 1672 and a Florentine provenance.
