A Hispano-Philippine Ivory figure of the Christ Child

The figure of the infant Christ belongs to a group known as Nino Jesus, Salvador del Mundo (Saviour of the World) and was inspired by Andalucian sculptors of ca.1600.
Sculptures of this type were popular within the entire Spanish empire and would have been made in the Philippines for the Catholic Spanish and Portugese missionaries living in the Far East.
