Gustave ALBERT (1866-1905) The port of Honfleur in the moonlight Oil on canvas 54x65cm Gustaf Albert Anderson (or GUSTAVE ALBERT) Swedish impressionist painter born in 1866 in Eskilstuna, and died in Gouvieux in Oise in 1905. He studied briefly at the Academy of Fine Arts then at the Valand School of Fine Arts. He stayed with his fellow artist Herman Norrman in New York from 1887 to 1890, where he produced paintings from the outskirts of the city, notably from Staten Island, after which he went to Paris. He lived the rest of his life there as an artist and a member of the French Academy of Arts. He will meet Allan Osterlind (1855-1938), another Swedish painter. The Universal Exhibition of 1900 awarded him a bronze medal. Public collections: Gothenburg Museum.
