Market scene Piéter Frans de Noter (1779-1842) Piéter Frans de Noter (1779-1842) Flemish painter of animated landscapes and urban landscapes, he was also a draftsman and engraver and professor at the academy of Ghent. He is present in many museums (Cologne, Coutrai, Ghent and Liège.) Our painting is part of his favorite theme where we see a market scene, animated by numerous characters, in a residential village inspired by medieval, faithful to the Dutch-Flemish theme of this end of the century, its technique is expressed by illuminated mass with very firm graphics.
