Mazarin desk in oak, Normandy Regency era circa 1720
Beautiful middle mazarin desk in solid oak wood.
It opens with five drawers on the front, two on the boxes on each side and a large central drawer.
Each drawer is framed by a beading cut in the mass.
The set rests on eight arched feet.
Entered cut iron locks and original key.
Very good quality mesh oak.
Beautiful state of preservation, small restorations to the tips of the feet.
Norman work from the Regency period or from the very beginning of the reign of Louis XV around 1720-1730.
Dimensions:
Width: 134cm; Depth: 63.5cm; Height: 75cm
Our opinion :
The majority of Mazarin-type desks were produced in Paris in the years 1690-1720 for an elite of the nobility.
This fashion only spread very little in the provinces, which makes our example particularly rare, which is a very beautiful "country" version made by a cabinetmaker from the Normandy bocage in solid mesh oak wood.
