Born in 1891, a dear friend of the writer Colette and the painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue, he mainly distinguished himself in the production of watercolors, drawings, as well as engraving. He assiduously evoked the Montmartre environment over several decades. He was then nicknamed the Grand Dig.
He drew his inspiration from feminine beauty to paint mainly portraits and nudes. Moreover, he established himself as a book illustrator and theater designer. He will then take an interest in landscapes, supported by his friend André Dunoyer de Segonzac. In addition to his work as an illustrator and painter, Dignimont played secondary roles in the cinema such as his role in the film Give Me Your Eyes by Sacha Guitry, in 1943, alongside other painters such as; Maurice de Vlaminck, André Derain, Raoul Dufy, André Lhote, Othon Friesz, Kees Van Dongen,...
He will be buried in 1965 in the Montparnasse cemetery; his tomb will be adorned with a bronze medallion with his portrait sculpted by Paul Belmondo.
