Large Louis XVI period desk chair of gondola shape in molded, carved and lacquered beech. Darkened with cane, it is embellished with a havana leatherette. The whole, with harmonious lines and deep and delicate moldings, has a backrest crosspiece running to the armrests so that it seems to be continued all around the armchair. Its fluted brackets give the chair elegance and energy.

Parisian work circa 1771 attributable to Nicolas-Jean Blanchard known as "the young" who was received as Master in 1771. He became one of the suppliers of the Palace of Versailles and quickly acquired a great reputation.
He always produced high quality seats with noble lines and a perfect finish. He stopped his activity before the Revolution but is still mentioned under the Directory.
