José Alsina (1850-1925) is a Spanish painter of the modern impressionist period.
This painting is one of the only ones to be exhibited in the French Art Salon of 1900 under the title: "The first fire of the year" at number 20.
It is part of the "series" (of the same dimensions) that has the highest prices such as: "Life on the banks of the Oued" sold for 18.050€, "Caravan in Algeria" sold for 17.861€ or his record "moment of rest" sold for 26.779€ at Christie's NY in 2006.
