Set of five vases Qianlong period

Quianlong period (1736 - 1785)
Famille Rose

Composed of three vases of Guanyin form with curved base and high bulging shoulders, and two bottle vases with ovoid body and long thin neck, pale grey granular background scattered with gilded or colored motifs of scrolls and flowers, in reserves outlined with polychrome animated miniatures, slightly flared necks, four-lobed lips, underlined with a gilded net

During the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) under the three successive reigns of Kangxi (1662-1722), Yongzheng (1723-1735) and Qianlong (1736-1795), peaks were reached and considerable technical progress was made. Under Yugzheng, a new category of enamels appeared, that of the pink family (fencai). During the Qianlong reign, the covers imitated all kinds of materials, the porcelain resembled jade, coral, lacquer and bronze. The 18th century was the golden age of Chinese porcelain exports to European countries, which set up their own East India Company and established their trading posts in Canton.

Five is in China the number of the center, considered as a lucky male number.
