Paul Désiré Trouillebert is the artist closest to Corot, as much by the style of his painting as by the friendly relations that the two painters had during their lives.
He started at the Salon des Artistes in 1865 and painted mainly landscapes. Since his success at the 1882 Salon, his paintings have been highly sought after.
He is one of the best representatives of the Barbizon School and brilliantly illustrates the new concerns of this group of artists in search of creative freedom.
