Views of Rome, 19th century

These six views of Rome are painted with gouache on paper, dated 1842 they represent different sites of the Italian city, they are located at the back, and show us the People's Square where is erected an Egyptian obelisk, St. Peter's Square of Rome, a view of the interior of the Colosseum, a view of the Basilica of St. John Lateran, a view of the Capitoline Square, drawn from the ruins thanks to Michelangelo, we can find the oldest museum in the world created in 1471 by Pope Sixtus IV and to finish the Forum of Rome, with the arch of Septimius Severus on the left, the temple of Saturn on the right and in the center the temple of Vespasian. These views dated 1842 are the work of a certain Di Filippi, and if we have not found any information on the artist, the quality of execution, worthy of the art of a miniaturist, is undeniable.
This charming set has kept its original freshness. It is framed by a small modern black lacquered rod.
Middle of the XIXth century.
Each view measures 10,5 cm x 13,5 cm, and each frame 26,5 cm x 20,5 cm.
