Was part of the exhibition “the von Wagner code” at the Polk Museum of art in Lakeland, Florida (USA) June-September 2018.
This drawing is a sketch for the Roman chariot race at the Circus Maximus with quadriga in the presence of Emperor Domitian dated 1882 and painted by Alexander von Wagner (1838-1919) at the Manchester art gallery painted for the 1873 exhibition in Vienna .
This painting is considered the masterpiece of the Hungarian artist and had a definite influence on the story of this episode, even going so far as to influence the staging of the film Ben Hur.
