Rosewood fireplace screen, Paris circa 1775

Rare four-leaf screen in rosewood veneer and solid rosewood. Each leaf features a height-adjustable pull-out screen that is trimmed with damask.

Very good state of conservation.

Parisian work from the transition from the Louis XV and Louis XVI periods around 1775.

Dimensions:
Height: 103.5cm; Width of a sheet: 44.5 cm

Our opinion :
This type of small flying screen served as an adjustable fireplace screen, it made it possible to read or write on a small table, sheltered from the hearth or on the contrary to take advantage of the heat.
The inventories of French castles are full of this type of piece.
For example, we find a similar model described at the Hôtel de la Marine in Paris, which was formerly in our collection, before finding its place in the corner lounge of the famous Parisian building.
