On a black lacquer ground (ro-iro) the decoration of flowers and foliage scrolls is in gold hiramaki-e lacquer on all sides. It includes 3 drawers of different sizes on the front. The interior of the drawers is also lacquered in nashiji (gold powder). The handles are in finely chiseled gilded copper. The top is in the form of a tray. Originally these cabinets were used for the incense ceremony. They can very well be diverted into jewelry boxes. Period: middle Meiji (1868-1912).
