Lit: Although Carlo Ferranti’s paintings frequently appear on the art market, we know little about his life and work path. His work is characterised by great technical proficiency, subtle colouring and life. He was active in Rome, an important 19th century centre for art students attracted by the internationally known ‘Prix de Rome’ contest. Ferranti’s compositions meet the popular style with his figurative genre scenes, bay views, elegant costume interiors.
