A large Italian red leather with gilt tooled ornaments chalice box bearing the arms of Pope benedict XIV Lambertini, Pope from 1740 to 1758, the inside of the box in lamb skin, and opening with four small metal hooks.
From the Roman workshops of leather binding.
A close example is in the collections of the Vatican Museums and another one at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
