Oblong-shaped sandstone vase with stylized plant motifs decoration by Pierre-Adrien Dalpayrat (1844-1910) and Maurice Dufrene (1876-1955). Born in Limoges where he learned porcelain painting, he trained in the studio of Jules Vieillard in Bordeaux. He settled in Bourg-la-Reine in 1889 where he perfected his particular technique of grès flammés. Employing nearly forty people, his career reached its high point in 1900, when he received the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition and the Legion of Honor.
