The Village Feast - Klaes Molenaer (1628-1678)

Oil on canvas

Klaes Molenaer was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter and draughtsman, mainly known for his landscapes, seascapes, and genre scenes. He may have been a student of Salomon van Ruysdael and his works show influences from Jan van Goyen and also Jacob van Ruisdael. He is said to have been a brother of the painters Bartholomeus Molenaer and Jan Miense Molenaer, other sources indicate that he was a cousin of the latter.
