Very important oil on canvas representing an elegant woman leaning on a stele, a garden in the background.
She is wearing a dress with a very high belt, in the antique style, embroidered. The pattern of the belt buckle is in oriental style. The left arm is placed nonchalantly on a green velvet coat, and a large stole of black fox (the scene takes place in autumn).
A French genre painter, known for his street scenes in Paris, he was also the portraitist of elegant women at the end of the century.
Pupil of E.Detaille and Hédin, he received an honorable prize in 1889 at the Universal Exhibition, a 3rd class medal in 1891, a bronze medal in 1900 (E.U), a 2nd class medal in 1907 (cf. Bénézit).
