Flying table stamped Canabas

This table opens with a drawer on the right side. Its belt is mahogany and mahogany veneer. It rests on four sheathed legs ending in castors and bronze shoes connected by a spacer shelf also in mahogany.

It is also fitted with a sliding screen lined with Lyon silk. According to Kjellberg, Canabas is considered “the grand master of small mahogany furniture”. Work stamped Canabas (Jean Joseph Gengenbach dit) (1712_1797);Received master in 1766.
