CATALOGUE NOTE
A fine Dutch Louise XV Lady's writing table or ‘bureau plat’, dating from around 1760/70, standing on four elegant double arched legs. The front has a large central drawer over the full width of the table. This type of writing tables were designed to stand in the middle of a room and not against the wall. As such, the table is decorated to be freestanding, with mock drawers at the back. The table is decorated in full-round, with fine carvings and veneers on all four sides. This elegant medium-sized ‘bureau plat’ is adorned with the original refined gilded bronze fittings, decorated with typical Rococo motifs in the Louise XV style. Dutch writing tables of this size and quality are rare.
