Bust of Venus de Milo
Beautiful bust of Milo carved in Carrara marble,
signed on the back C. VOSS. COP. ROMA 1873
The bust comes from the workshop of Carl Voss in Rome
Karl Voss (5.11.1825 Cologne – 22.8.1896 Bonn)
C .Voss studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
Through which he created classicist busts between 1850-1894 in Rome
and the whole world he achieved the highest fame.
Busts and sculptures of Carl Voss are found in museums around the world
such as the Pinakothek Munich where the full-length Venus de Milo is located.
This bust of Venus de Milo stood in a garden of a villa,
it still has the original column from its time of creation.
The bust has signs of aging on the hair and there is
traces of water on the face.
The bust is otherwise preserved in a completely intact state.
without any damage.
The column has signs of use on the lower square, stand space.
