We'd like to thank Fred Meijer for his advice.
Johannes Hannot was a Dutch painter mainly known for his still-lifes. He shows influences of Jan Davidsz. de Heem who has also been active in Leiden.
The painting shows a darker background which is typical for his work. In the center of the composition we can see a watermelon surrounded by various grapes, cherries, figs, peaches and pomegranates. The ensemble is resting on a stone table ledge decorated with a dark cloth.
