The central frieze is decorated with two medallions featuring gods of Greek mythology. The lower part is decorated with two heads of BacchusThe lid is topped by a pomegranate burst.
"ELKINGTON and Co" is one of the greatest manufacturers of silverware and silver metal of the nineteenth century in Great Britain. Founded in Birmingham by George Richards Elkington and his brother Henry in the 1830s, the foundry was known as "G.R. Elkington & Co" until 1842, when Josiah Mason joined the duo. This collaboration ends in 1861.
