Pair of Roman capitals decorated with intertwined foliage

Capitals with a circular base, flaring slightly upwards to a rectangular upper part with volutes of angles.
These engaged capitals of monumental dimensions are carved with foliage on three sides. The voluminous vegetation is made up of intertwined scrolls giving rise to florets at their ends.
A very similar capital from the Abbey of Saint Denis is on display at the Cluny Museum (« Exposition Naissance de la sculpture gothique »).
