Mask with a stylized avian figure, sculpted with a large openwork beak.
The upper mandible with a median ridge is punctuated with seven incisions. This ridge continues on the short and slightly curved forehead in a succession of grooves.
The eyes are openworked in two tapered slits and the eyebrow arches are underlined by a horizontal line in hollow.
It is said that these masks are associated with the spirit of the great hornbill.
Provenance : Former André Schoeller collection, Paris.
