The axe head is flat, with one edge, extended into a spade, cut at the base, fitted with an oval socket with stop, punched and re-drilled.
The wooden handle is entirely inlaid with bone inserts carved in the shape of rectangles or drops. The larger plates are riveted and engraved with floral motifs. The proximal part abandons the wood for the bone and presents an incised decoration made up of two bouquets of flowers in vase. One of the sides is monogrammed HGM and dated 1728
The heel of the handle is made of andouiller, with a spherical protrusion.
