Old restorations
The prototype of this composition is the panel of Pieter
Coecke van Aelst from the old Joly collection.
The main variation concerns the empty and open left hand of St. Joseph, which on our painting is closed and holding the hand of the artist,
on our painting is closed and holds a bunch of grapes, as well as the tree in the landscape which is different.
