XX century, French Gitl Bronze Lacquered Coffee Table by Maison Bagues
The refined coffee table, created by the famous French manufacturer Maison Baguès in the early years of the twentieth century, is composed of a lacquered wooden top with chinoiserie floral decorations, birds, a frame with Greek motif on light ochre background. The structure is in golden bronze with bamboo motifs. The four legs are joined at the bottom by crosspieces that intersect at the centre by connecting with a ring.
The world-famous Parisian company Maison Baguès has created lighting and furniture works famous all over the world and is now recognized as synonymous with elegance and refinement. Baguès was born in Auvergne around 1840 and specialized in bronze works. The society developed considerably at the end of the nineteenth century, with the advent of electricity, with objects for lighting.
