17th Century, Italy, Pair Of Bolognese Carved Giltwood Frames

Total Sizes H 86 x W 125 cm; inside space H 56 x W 94.5 cm

This important pair of frames was made in the second half of the 17th century in Bologna (Italy). The rectangular frames are made of finely carved entirely gilded wood. The wide band is carved with acanthus leaf motifs, while the flat parts have a burin hammering that gives more three-dimensionality to the carvings and a vibration of the color of gold. Thanks to the symmetry of these slots, the frames can be hung both vertically and horizontally.
These elegant and refined frames are very well suited to contemporary paintings of the 17th century as well as other ancient paintings. Equally, they have a great effect when combined with paintings and contemporary prints. They can also become two splendid mirrors, to be inserted in environments of modern taste or characterized by antique furnishings. They are beautiful in a living room, in the hall or in the studio, thanks to their small size, they can also be designed for the bedroom or a bathroom.
