A Japanese Gosu blue Satsuma ceramic sculpture of excellent quality and size modeled and painted with blue, brown, orange and gold enamels depicting an elephant.
The rich ornamental blanket was used for important events and is finely detailed with a rich interweaving of floral motifs and hanging jewels.
The glazing along the body enhances the shapes, the movement and the power of the pachyderm.
