Portrait of a young man in armor, attributed to André Bouys

Portrait of a young man in armor , oil on canvas size 74 cm x 60 cm , with its beautiful carved wooden frame of the Regency period , 98 cm x 84 cm , attributed to André Bouys , France 17th century .
This young man, portrayed at half-body, probably a military man, wears a top of armor on a blue velvet jacket with gold embroidered sleeves. A red cloak is placed on his shoulder.
By the fashion of his high and long wig, known as "leonine" we can date this work to the end of the reign of Louis XIV around 1690.
Oil on canvas and its original frame, very good condition.
Carved and gilded wooden frame, decorated with shells in the centers and corners (beautiful and rare model)
André Bouys born in Hyères in 1656 and died in Paris in 1740 was a French portrait painter, pupil of François de Troy, who entered the academy in 1688. He presented a portrait of the painter Charles de la Fosse which is in the Palace of Versailles, where we also find two portraits of himself, one of which represents his wife.
