Lacquer box with black background and inlaid mother-of-pearl decoration. Curved shaped cartridges stand out against a geometric background set of stars and flowers. The inside of the lid is also decorated and the bottom is in red lacquer. Lock and hinges in silver. Probably from the Ryukyu Islands, 19th century, circa 1820
