Painting, oil on canvas. 52 x 32 cm without frame and 59 x 39 cm with frame, depicting women in a landscape by the painter Marco Marcola (Verona 1740 - 1793).
Marco Marcola, also known as Marcuola, was born in Verona, son of the painter Giambattista, he was a painter of various genres and of vast production, widespread mainly in the Veneto-Lombardy area. He was a 360-degree painter, the eighteenth-century historian Luigi Lanzi defined him:
"... universal painter, very quick to work, ferocious in inventions ..."
That said, we can admire in this painting the use of a very luminous material, in the peremptory detachment between the areas in light and those in shadow, in the execution of the lively figures that populate the theatrical scaffolding and in the rendering of pink and bamboo clouds. which we find identical in his most important paintings.
