scagliole tray - end of 17th century

The rectangular tray in black marble with its gilt bronze border is decorated with a "Chine se" scene representing a hunting scene with riders pursuing deer and wild boars in sagliole.

The Scagliola is a technique based selenite, glue, and other natural pigments to imitate inlaid hard stones.
This art of imitation is already used during the entire period of antiquity, he returned to 1500 and reached its apogee in the early 18th century.
