Oak retable fragment of Jesse. Early 16th century.

A fine oak retable fragment depicting Jesse. This carving was once at the base of a Tree of Jesse which is a depiction of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, shown in a branching tree which rises from Jesse of Bethlehem, the father of King David.

Southern Netherlands. Early 16th century.

Dimensions: H 15.2cm x W (back) 7.5cm x D (back -> tip of the beard) 4.2cm.
