The city hall of Oudenaarde - Victor Vervloet (1829-1904)

Oil on canvas

Signed lower right: "V. Vervloet."

In this painting Vervloet depicted the city hall of Oudenaarde, recognisable by its Brabantine Gothic architecture with its vaulted ceiling, richly decorated facade with pointed-arch windows separated by canopied niches and steep dormered roof surrounded by openwork parapet.

Victor Vervloet was a Belgian painter and aquarellist specialized in cityvies and interiors. He was a pupil of Pieter-Frans De Noter and teacher at the Academy for Fine Arts in Mechelen. A number of his works have been exhibited in the Hanswijkbasilica in Mechelen (2021).
