This important Emilian painting from the 17th century must be referred to the exquisite production of the Bolognese school. The splendid workmanship and exquisite colors, obviously of the highest standard, in fact suggest the attribution to a very talented author working in Bologna in the second half of the 17th century. This composition, which sees the Virgin in prayer, bent to adore the sleeping Child and Saint John behind her, is in fact another sign of the great Bolognese pictorial culture of the end of the 17th century.
