Carved, polychrome and gilt wood panel representing a crowned king holding his scepter. Set in an architectural niche, he has a halo affirming his status as a saint. He is probably Henri II the saint (973-1024), the Holy Roman Emperor (1002-1024), canonized in 1146 following his generosity to the Church, and for whom a tomb was built in the Cathedral of St Peter and St George of Bamberg, in Bavaria, circa 1500.
Our sculpture, dated 1525, follows his cult in this Southern province of Germany.
